When I first pursued my degree in Chinese Medicine, many of my soon to be colleagues kept raving about how amazing this Jook stuff was. Like really, how great could boiled down white rice actually be? Turns out it's pretty darn special.
I like chicken and avocado, my husband likes pesto & pasta. Lucky for us we can meet somewhere in the middle with this tasty gluten-free, grain-free, and dairy-free Mediterranean dish.
I love this version of my homemade chia bar. You seriously can't go wrong when you combine chocolate, cherries, chia seeds and vanilla. These are really easy to make and convenient to travel with. You can take them when you're out and about and need a quick snack, or take a batch with you to work and store in the fridge. No need to be tempted by office donuts. Now you have your own super duper delicious and HEALTHY snack. Oh and the kids love them too!
Almond butter is a staple in my home. I think it's good on just about anything. I use it as a dip for fruit and veggies, add it to smoothies for an extra protein and fat boost, use it for raw treats as well as baked goods. Then one day I thought to myself, this stuff is so dang expensive, why don't I just make my own almond butter? If I make it myself I know it's super fresh and has no extra oils or preservatives. Plus I could make it way WAY healthier by soaking the almonds first.
Oh spaghetti and meatballs how I love thee, especially when you don't hurt my tummy. I am so happy to have found vegetable based grain-free noodles. My life just wasn't complete without you.
Do you have a temper? Is your fuse too short? Are you an exploder or an imploder? Do you ever get mad, upset, enraged or have a temper-tantrum? Do you need to tame your tongue? Are you a yeller or screamer? Do others like your anger? Do you like your anger?
The benefit of cooking your food in a slow cooker is that your house smells so dang good all day long. The downside of cooking your food in a slow cooker is that you have to wait so dang long to eat it. But trust me, it's worth it.
By now we all know that sitting at a desk too long can cause low back pain, but did you know that it can be responsible for your neck pain, too? It could also be responsible for headaches, eye pain, TMJ, wrist pain, elbow pain, leg pain, digestive troubles, weight gain, muscle atrophy, breathing problems, and so on.
Kelp noodles are a great substitute for ramen noodles if you are avoiding grains. They are made out of kelp and sodium alginate, which is derived from the cell walls of brown seaweed. They hold their shape and texture well and don't break down into mush. They have a mild taste and the longer they sit in the soup, the more flavorful they become.
Not to toot my horn but this has got to be the best grain-free, dairy-free and egg-free banana bread recipe I’ve ever come up with. I wanted to make an egg-free recipe because many people have allergies or intolerances to eggs or are following a special diet that excludes them. If this is not you then feel free to use eggs as they are one of the healthiest foods on the planet for those who can tolerate them.
This is a great smoothie to enjoy with a protein packed breakfast or as an afternoon snack.
Pasta Bolognese is my husband's favorite Italian dish. I never even heard of it until I met him but he has ordered it at every Italian restaurant we've ever been to. Now I'm a fan of this rich and tasty dish too, but I prefer mine without the pasta. Here's my version of Bolognese over baked sweet potato. Yum!
