Tangy & Sweet Sugar-Free Lemonade

I love lemonade but I don't love all the sugar that's added to store bought lemonade, and I definitely don't like when it's sweetened with artificial sweeteners. Yuck.

In this recipe I used powdered stevia. Stevia is an herb 150 times sweeter than regular cane sugar but doesn't raise your glucose levels so it's fairly safe for diabetics and other people watching their sugar intake.

Cherry Marcia Bars: Cherry, Chocolate, Chia, & Vanilla Bars for a Tasty & Convenient Snack

I love this version of my homemade chia bar. You seriously can't go wrong when you combine chocolate, cherries, chia seeds and vanilla. These are really easy to make and convenient to travel with. You can take them when you're out and about and need a quick snack, or take a batch with you to work and store in the fridge. No need to be tempted by office donuts. Now you have your own super duper delicious and HEALTHY snack. Oh and the kids love them too!

How to Make Your Own Healthy Almond Butter for Better Digestion

Almond butter is a staple in my home. I think it's good on just about anything. I use it as a dip for fruit and veggies, add it to smoothies for an extra protein and fat boost, use it for raw treats as well as baked goods. Then one day I thought to myself, this stuff is so dang expensive, why don't I just make my own almond butter? If I make it myself I know it's super fresh and has no extra oils or preservatives. Plus I could make it way WAY healthier by soaking the almonds first.

Vegan & Grain-Free Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips

Not to toot my horn but this has got to be the best grain-free, dairy-free and egg-free banana bread recipe I’ve ever come up with. I wanted to make an egg-free recipe because many people have allergies or intolerances to eggs or are following a special diet that excludes them. If this is not you then feel free to use eggs as they are one of the healthiest foods on the planet for those who can tolerate them.

Basic Coconut Whipped Cream Recipe

Like most people I love whipped cream. No matter how it's used it always improves the dish it is added to. Plain and unsweetened it adds goodness and volume for a creamy rich texture to sauces and soups. Sweetened with a bit of sugar and vanilla, whipped cream makes an excellent treat as is or added to deserts. But there's just one problem, I am lactose intolerant as well as allergic to dairy.

Flax Seeds: The Best Egg Replacer for Your Vegan Baked Goods

Can't eat eggs or don't want to but miss the occasional indulgence in baked goods? No problem! I have a solution for you. Believe it or not you can use ground flaxseeds as an egg replacer in your recipes. Flaxseeds may seem like an odd choice but really they're brilliant. Why? Well to explain this you'll have to understand a wee bit about food chemistry. Don't worry, I won't bore you with too much detail.

Spring Goddess Salad

The strawberries up in the Bay Area are rockin it right now. If you haven't already done so go get yourself a basket or two or three of fresh organic strawberries from your Farmer's Market. You will thank me for it later.

Homemade Coconut-Cashew Yogurt Recipe

It may sound intimidating to make your own delicious and healthy dairy free yogurt but it’s actually pretty easy! All you need are a few yummy ingredients, an oven with a light or insulated cooler, and a couple glass jars with tight fitting lids. Why make your own yogurt? Well, it’s good for you!

How To Make Your Own Nut Or Seed Milk

Many of us have dairy and soy intolerances yet the majority of milk sold at the supermarket are made out of them. More and more markets are carrying alternatives such as almond and hemp milks, but most processed milks contain a lot of sugar and other ingredients that you don’t necessarily want to be consuming on a daily basis. Why not make your own milk? In this post I am going to teach you how to make your own nut and seed milks.
